Independent School District #314 contains approximately 140 square miles of territory in Isanti, Pine, Chisago & Kanabec Counties of east central Minnesota. It includes the cities of Braham (population 1,700) and Grasston (population 120+).

Historically, the Braham area’s major industry has been agriculture and agriculturally related industries. While that remains somewhat true today, light industry plays an increasingly large role in the area’s economy. An increasingly large percentage of the population commutes daily to the Twin Cities.

Braham Area Schools also houses the headquarters of the East Central Minnesota Educational Cable Cooperative, a joint-powers association of area schools providing interactive TV programming to its members. The district is also a member of the School-To-Work Partnership along with 12 other school districts/ communities that comprise the East Central Minnesota Workforce Council. The district is also a part of the I-35 Tech Prep Consortium, along with six other area schools.

The district is active in the following organizations to expedite and more efficiently provide services and operate the school district: Isanti County Family Services and Community-based Collaboratives, which includes the Isanti County Integrated Collaborative and the Isanti County Interagency Early Intervention Committee; Rum River Special Education Cooperative; Central Minnesota Educational Research & Development Council in St. Cloud; Resource Training and Solutions Cooperative in St. Cloud; the SEE Organization (Schools for Equity in Education), Minnesota State High School League, Minnesota School Boards Association.

Braham Area High School program is accredited by the North Central Association and is reporting on its regular schedule.

The district has full support of the School Board and teaching staff for the Minnesota Graduation Standards.
