Local Scholarships


Tozer Foundation Scholarship Program
Applicants must be a resident of, or attended high school in Kanabec, Pine, or Washington counties in Minnesota.  Be a high school senior enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States for the entire 2018-19 academic year.
Award amounts will be up to $2750 each. Awards are renewable at the same amount for up to three additional years or until a bachelor's degree is earned, whichever occurs first.  Renewal is based on full-time enrollment and maintaining a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Stop in the Guidance Office for more information or go online for an application: https://www.scholarsapply.org/tozer Deadline is February 20, 2019.

Pine Technical College - $3500 Scholarship

Cambridge Community College Scholarships

Renaissance Charitable Foundation Inc. - $2,000.00 Award

Lois A. Froyen Memorial Scholarship 
Students applying to receive the scholarship must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Be a graduating senior from Braham Area High School
2. Have a 2.75 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale)
3. Accepted into a post-secondary educational institution
4. Have participated in extra-curricular speech and/or drama theater arts while enrolled at Braham Area High School.

Helen M. Johnson Scholarship

Gary H. Johnson Scholarship $1,000.00 Award

Rum River Quality Deer Management Assoc. Scholarship - $300.00 Award
Students family must be a member of the Rum River Quality Management Assoc. or student is going into a Wildlife type schooling, such as DNR, Conservation Officer, etc.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application.   Deadline is March 21, 2019 


Agricultural  Scholarship $500.00 – East Central Pork Producers

Available to any person pursuing a field of study related to agriculture or a career connected with agriculture.  Open to any graduating high school senior in the four counties of Isanti,  Kanabec, Mille Lacs and Pine.  Must have at least a 2.0 GPA .   Stop in the Guidance Office for an application. Deadline is March 31, 2019.

RLIA Grant Allen Scholarship – $1000.00

  • Open to any graduating high school student attending any post secondary school in the fall of 2019.
  • Applicants are not required to members of the Rush Lake Improvement Association.
  • Applicants are not required to be Rush Lake residents.

Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon  Scholarship - $2,500 (potential for more)

  • To apply for the ICBYR Scholarship, the applicant must be:
    A military service member or veteran who lives in or has their duty station in Isanti County, or   has Isanti County as their home of record if they are in active duty.
  • The legal spouse of an eligible military service member or veteran*
  • A child of an eligible military service member or veteran*                                          

*If military service member or veteran is deceased, they must have been residing in or had their duty station or home of record in Isanti County at the time of their death.

Tusen Tack and Braham Event Center Scholarship

The Tusen Tack and Braham Event Center Scholarship is intended for two seniors graduating from the Braham Area High School who will be attending a college/university, technical program, or trade school this upcoming fall.  Applicants are required to volunteer a minimum of 50 hours in a calendar year at Tusen Tack and/or Braham Event Center during their high school (9-12 grade) years.  Two $500.00 scholarships will be awarded.  The Braham Scholarship Committee will choose the recipients.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or click here: 2019-2020 Tusen Tack Scholarship.pdf

Cambridge Sons of the American Legion Squadron #290 -$500.00 Scholarship

Present 12th grade student from Braham Area High School with preference to a son or daughter of a member of the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion, Women’s Auxiliary or Jr. Auxiliary.  However, it may be awarded to any deserving student.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or Click here

American Legion Auxiliary Howard McCarty Unit #290 Cambridge $1,000.00 Scholarship 
Applicant must be 12th grade female student from Braham Area High School, accepted into a post-high school institution: two/four year college or technical college who exhibits scholarship, leadership, character, community service and patriotism.  Students must be in the upper one third of the senior class.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or click here: Click here

Federated Co-Ops, Inc.

There will be 1 – $600.00 or 2 – $300.00 scholarships awarded.  Must be a graduating senior who will enroll in a at least a two year program and whose parents are current customers of Federated Co-Op, Inc.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or Click here

TEAM Industries Scholarship – $750.00

Must be a graduating Braham Area H.S. senior who has been accepted into a technical college, community, or four-year institution and be majoring in Manufacturing, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field of study.  Financial need may be considered, but is not a requirement for scholarship.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or Click here

Jim Larson Memorial Scholarship

Must be a graduating Braham Area H.S. senior who has been accepted and plans to attend a college/university including a technical college or trade school, or community college.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or Click here

Gene and Phyllis Nelson Educational Award

Ed and Linda Melcher Scholarship

The Ed and Linda Melcher scholarship is for seniors attending Braham Area High School who will be attending a college/university or technical school and have chosen to pursue a degree beyond a high school diploma at an institution of higher learning.  The award of $500.00 will be given to the student selected by members of the Melcher Family.  Eligible students must have 2.75 GPA or higher and must have participated in at least one extra-curricular activity as a senior.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or Click here

Donald F. Olson Scholarship Application

The Donald F. Olson scholarship is for seniors at Braham Area High School who will be attending a college/university, technical program, or trade school this upcoming fall, who live outside of the corporate limits of any city within the ISD #314 school district and have an academic standing of 2.5 GPA or higher.  The Braham Area High School Scholarship Committee will award multiple $2,000 scholarships.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or Click here

Braham Education Association Scholarship

This scholarship is for a Braham Area High School student will attend college and enter the education field.  One $500 scholarship will be awarded and paid up passage of the PRAXXIS exam or the equivalent exam to gain your teaching license.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application or Click here

East Central Energy Scholarship

The Alexis Ann Hasser Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 Award

The applicant must be a High School student graduating during the 2018/2019 school year and meet the following criteria:
  • The member must be a college bound high school senior at the time of application from one of the following school districts of Minnesota: Aitkin, Braham, Cambridge, Isanti, East Central, Hinckley, Isle, Milaca, Mora, North Branch, Ogilvie, Onamia, Pine City, or Rush City.
  • The applicant will be attending college for the first time in the fall of 2019
  • The applicant will be enrolled in either a two or four-year accredited educational institution.
  • The applicant should be studying either a Social Work or Psychology major
  • The applicant agrees to use any scholarship funds awarded for tuition and/or fees only.

National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholar/Essay Application - Two $1500 and Two $2500 Scholarship Awards will be awarded

In accordance with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association's (NIAAA) purpose to promote, facilitate, and increase the knowledge and understanding of the vital role of interscholastic athletics in the educational system, this scholarship will foster and acknowledge the partnership between the NIAAA and secondary education. The scholarships will recognize the distinguished scholastic, leadership, and citizenship attributes of high school student athletics, and the importance of high school athletics in each student's life.
1. Applicant must be a senior 2. Applicant must have achieved at least two (2) of the following: a. minimum of B+ average b. ranked in the top 25% of class c. ACT score of 24 or an or an SAT score of 1100 (Math and Reading)
3. Applicant must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport.
4. Applicant must have earned at least one varsity letter in each of two sports.
5. Applicant must complete attached scholar/essay application
6. Applicant must have a letter of recommendation from the high school athletic administrator/director 7. School athletic director must be an NIAAA member and member of their respective state athletic administrators association. 8. The principal or athletic director must sign the application to insure that the academic information submitted is accurate. 9. Hibbing Community College Foundation Scholarships

Recipients must be enrolled at HCC in 6 or more credits at the time of disbursement. Awards will apply to fall and spring 2019-2020 tuition.

Past academic excellence and promise of future performance determine the recipients.   Students should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  The awards generally range from 500 to $1000.

Spire Credit Union - $1,000 Scholarship
The total amount that will be given out for the 2018 – 2019 school year is $1,000:
·         Traditional Scholarships:  Two (2) awarded for $500 each
·         Scholarships will be paid out directly to the school during the student’s first quarter/semester with at least a 2.0 grade point average.
·         There will be a one-year expiration date on all scholarships.  Any funds not used within one year will be returned to SPIRE.

TWIN CITIES IN MOTION - Scholarship Program

TCM's College Scholarship Program awards $5,000 each year to one graduating high school male and female.  
The scholarship is open to all graduating high school students who:

  • Have participate in cross-country or track, running event 800 meters or longer
  • Have a cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Have leadership skills and volunteer experience
  • Live or attend school in the 11-country metro area

Selection criteria includes:  academic performance, community service, leadership, running accomplishments, coach recommendations and an essay.  Student athletes of all abilities are encouraged to apply.

Minnesota JCI Senate Scholarships

The Minnesota Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Club joins the United States JCI organization in presenting scholarships to selected high school seniors.  Below you will find a link to the application forms and information.   To retrieve a scholarship application, go to the website:  www.usjcisenate.org  The application should be completed in its entirety and returned postmarked on or before January 18, 2019.  


Hagan Scholarship Foundation

The purpose of the Hagan Scholarship is to provide each recipient with the opportunity to obtain a four year college education and graduate debt free. Two Hundred scholarships will be awarded each year.

1.Must graduate college within Four (4) years.
2.Must achieve a 3.0 GPA each semester the first four semesters of college and a 3.25 GPA each subsequent semester.
3.Must complete thirty on-campus GPA credit hours each academic year, excluding summer school.
4.Must fulfill ALL Recipient Responsibilities, and attend the free workshop in July each year.

Minnesota Women's Golf Association (MWGA) $3000 per year, renewable for 4 consecutive years

This scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic rating (must have a GPA of 3.2 or above), financial need, and school achievements, leadership, and activities.  Although skill or excellence in the game of golf is not criterion, candidates shall demonstrate an involvement in the sport.  Stop in the Guidance Office for an application.  Deadline is March 29, 2019

Total amount that will be given out for the 2017-2018 school year is $1,000 (Two (2) Traditional for $500 each)  There will be a one-year expiration date on all scholarships. $1000 awarded annually to students interested in pursing a career in nursing and currently accepted or enrollee in any college program.

Health Care Professions Scholarship – $1000 Awarded Annually by All50Medical.com

$1000 awarded annually to students interested in pursing a career in any health care related profession and currently accepted or enrollee in any college program. 


MSNA (MN School Nutrition Association Scholarship)

Greater Minnesota Credit Union Scholarship

The Greater Minnesota Credit Union is offering a number of scholarships to members of their Credit Union.  Students must have a 2.0 GPA and will be required to write a 500-1,000 word essay.  Scholarship applications may be found at www.gmcu.com   Deadline for applications is April 15, 2019.

American Lung Association in Minnesota and the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council  -  Clean Air Choice Biodiesel Essay Scholarship.

Alert Magazine $500 Scholarship

In order to quality:

  1. You must currently be a senior in high school.
  2. Your high school must be in Minnesota
  3. You must have a grade point average of 2.5 or better.
  4. You must have plans to attend college after graduation (the college can be located in any state)

All you have to do is write an essay (650-800 words, double-spaced) about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with drug and/or alcohol abuse, how it was dealt with, what you learned from it, and what was right or wrong (in your opinion) about the way the incident or problem was handled.
